May 2017, it was announced the winner of EU prize for contemporary architecture, Mies van der Rohe Award in Barcelona, where the Skjern River project has been among the 40 shortlisted European projects (out of 355 projects) to the award.
Pump Station by the River of Skjern
Dansk Polyglas A/S has developed, manufactured and delivered special translucent fiberglass wall panels to the pump station by the River of Skjern in cooperation with award-winning Danish architecture firm Johansen Skovsted Arkitekter. Fiberglass panels function as light source at upper staircase to the viewing platform and create a homogeneous expression in the interaction between the materials (fiberglass-wood-concrete), architecture and nature. Fiberglass unique durability capabilities, no need for maintenance and corrosion resistance – these are all features what fit well into the harsh environment close to North Sea and meet the future demands of modern architecture.
